After spending 12 years wanting to stay under the radar, in early 2018 I decided to enter a handful of select wine competitions. It’s a small but important way to honor the wonderful vineyard sources that make our award-winning wines possible! All the wines entered received awards and I plan to enter newer vintages in upcoming years.
As a winemaker, to have my 2013 Sangiacomo Roberts Road Vineyard Pinot Noir chosen as Best of Show at the 2018 Women’s Wine Competition, was a supreme honor. To be recognized by my peers in that way is truly special, but you don’t need to be a woman to appreciate this incredibly appealing wine! I must say, it is showing beautifully, and is nowhere near its peak. You will thank your foresight for buying a case of this now, while we still have some in our cellar.
Scoring a Double Gold for my 2007 Monte Rosso Cabernet, and being named Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon Winery of the Year at the 2018 New York International Wine Competition, with a score of 95, was continued affirmation that this vineyard is championship material. I’m also jazzed that both my 2012 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir scored Gold with scores of 93, at the same competition.
I also sent some wines out to Rusty Gaffney from PinotFile – and he seemed to appreciate the wines and gave them all scores of 90+.
