Chardonnay

My Chardonnays are sourced from unique, cool-climate vineyards in the Sonoma Coast and Petaluma Gap. Unsurprisingly, the Chardonnay tends to be from Sangiacomo, but some years we have sourced grapes from a vineyard originally known as Peyton’s, and now called Antonio Mountain.

Both vineyard sites are cold, allowing for incredible flavor development over a long growing season, while maintaining superb acidity. They are late harvesting vineyards, yielding wines that are stunning in their complexity and very fun to drink – even people who don’t claim to like Chardonnay, say they like our Chardonnay! You’ll find the Sangiacomo Chardonnays particularly age-worthy.

Try some of our older vintages and you will be absolutely blown away.

2017 Chardonnay Sangiacomo

Golden foil with green notes and excellent clarity. On the nose, lemon curd, tangerine peel, kiwi, meringue and saline with hints of citrus blossom against a slight vanilla backdrop. As it opens, you can smell night jasmine, apple, honeydew melon and sweet nectarine. On the palate, the velvety entry coats the palate with golden delicious apple, almond and beeswax, citrus peel and pineapple which moves into a firm yet elegant citrus fruit core. This graduates into a long finish with minerality, stone fruits and a subtle oak undertone with racy acidity. It is an organized spectrum of bright flavors that wakes up the senses for food.

2016 Chardonnay Sangiacomo

This wine has a rich and oily entry, which opens into a textured and layered mix of citrus fruits – lemons, limes and mandarin oranges on the palate. It has a weighty yet playful mouthfeel, like a delicate but flavorful zabaglione. The finish is long, lively and consistent – the wine dances in your mouth long after the sip is gone.

Balanced and complex, this wine is drinkable now, but should age nicely for another 10 or more years.

2013 Chardonnay Antonio Mountain

Honeyed yellow in color the nose is rich sultanas crossed with sweet, ripe mango and Crenshaw melon. The soft and viscous mouthfeel leads to delicate jasmine blossom, mandarin orange and honey-vanilla notes that transition with a long, lingering and focused finish.

2012 Chardonnay Sangiacomo

Sun-kissed golden color, this wine shows aromatics of lemon-meringue crossed with golden poached pear and white peach. Its lean entry opens to explosive flavors of citrus zest, orange blossom with subtle yet structured, lingering oak finish.
