Cabernet Sauvignon

In the early days, I made Cabernet from the famed Monte Rosso vineyard site on the Sonoma Coast. This is a fabulous and very special site: you can feel it when you walk the rows. The grapes are rich and complex showing ample fruit and a unique juiciness, with incredibly ageability. In 2017, I bought grapes from Napa Valley for the first time.

I teamed up with the Sangiacomo’s and the Nord’s and bought grapes from their vineyard in Oakville. The vineyard is impacted by Bay fog which results in cooler mornings and reliably warm and sunny afternoons, giving the fruit complexity, acidity and a lovely lushness. While this could be described as an opulent Cabernet, it remains restrained and balanced: not over the top.

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakview

Deep, dense reddish purplish in color. THIS IS CAB! Aromas of blueberries, plum, anise and cracked black pepper. On the palate, the complex and integrated flavors of blackberries, cassis with hints of pencil lead and black licorice make the mouth water. This wine's tight, muscular tannins lead to a soft, velvety and long finish.

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso

Tons of incredibly dark fruits interspersed with leather and East Asian spices, soft tannins and a long, luscious finish.

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso

Incredibly dark, rich and fresh, you would never know this wine is 15 years old. Lots of dark fruit soft tannins and a lengthy finish

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso

A deep reddish-purple in color, this wine shows mocha, tasted almond, dried tobacco and blueberries on the nose. These give way to cigar box, chestnuts, leather, earth and a slight jasmione note on the palate with soft, elegant tannins, nice acid and a long finish. This wine is a stylish and easy drinking Cabernet Sauvignon.
